School Introduction

Children reading

Our Aims

Upholding the fine tradition of the Tsung Tsin Mission in running schools, with the love of Christ as our foundation and professional knowledge and dedication as our pillars, we are a non-profit half-day and whole-day kindergarten tailored to today's children. We offer quality whole-person education to Hong Kong's new generation, helping children develop in a balanced way in moral, intellectual, physical, social, aesthetic and spiritual growth, so that they become confident, self-disciplined and self-respecting citizens. We also support parents so that children grow up surrounded by love.

(Matthew 7:12)AbilityDon't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. (1 Timothy 4:12)CourageFor God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. (2 Timothy 1:7)EnjoyRejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

Curriculum

Chinese

Following the EDB's Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide (2017), we choose theme stories that match children's real-life experiences. Because children love stories, we wrote a story-based integrated emergent literacy curriculum. Through a story every day and listening, speaking, reading and writing activities, children learn language systematically, which raises their interest and builds a solid foundation.

English

  1. Nursery (K1): the 26 letters, vocabulary, rhymes, spoken English (Oral) and Phonics.
  2. Lower (K2) & Upper (K3): English storybooks, Oral books and Phonics books teach vocabulary, sentences and sounds.

Numeracy

  1. Nursery (K1): quantities 1-10, concepts (tall and short, more and less …), sorting, shapes, same and different, simple counting charts.
  2. Lower (K2): quantities 11-20, revising 1-10, comparing, sorting, same and different, simple statistics, rote counting.
  3. Upper (K3): rote counting, counting down from 20, adding and subtracting within 10, sorting, statistics, comparing, time and money.

Teaching Methods

We use story-based teaching, activity-based teaching and the whole-language approach so children learn language systematically and build a firm foundation.

Story-based Teaching

Children love stories, so theme content is woven into them. Teachers read the stories aloud and follow up with meaningful whole-language activities that build children's language skills.

Activity-based Teaching

Through outings, hands-on exploration and activities designed around each theme, children learn by touching and experiencing things for themselves.

We also choose project activities and High/Scope teaching to suit each theme, using different ways of learning to raise children's interest, build their confidence and develop their potential.

Our Features

  • K1-K3 half-day classes have three and a half hours of lessons each day.
  • We have two native English-speaking teachers.
  • Native English teachers teach for 20 minutes every day to build listening and speaking skills.
  • In group time (about one hour), native English teachers run story activities and English games to improve children's spoken English.
  • A free "Preparatory Class" is offered to children who have been admitted to K1.
  • A professional art tutor designs a one-hour weekly visual arts lesson for K2-K3, raising children's interest and creativity.
  • Music and physical activities every day.
  • Our Graceful Library opens on Saturdays from 9:30 to 11:30 am for students to borrow books. At 10:00 am, parent volunteers ("Story Mums and Story Dads") come to tell stories, raising children's interest in reading.
  • Our Parent-Teacher Association works with the school on family outings, parent-child competitions, talks, parent classes and parent volunteer groups. We encourage parents to join school activities to learn about current educational ideas and child development and to improve their parenting.
Teachers with children
